FlowTorch generates bold charts and visualizations that allow the user to get an overview of their income and expenses in an easy to read format. The user can list recurring and one-time payments on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Files can be uploaded and attached to individual transactions, including invoices and receipts. Each user can create multiple accounts so businesses and other sources of income can be listed separately. FlowTorch appeared in 2011, with a United Kingdom version launched in August of 2011. The application was featured on Envato’s blog, Notes. FlowTorch encountered a small issue when it was discovered that activation emails were being returned by some spam systems. An update was made to the FlowTorch activation process to help work around this problem so more new users can retrieve their activation link and sign up.

A new user can create a FlowTorch account by clicking the green “Create Account” button in the bottom, center of the homepage. The following page presents the user with the registration form, which asks for an email address, full name and password. A drop down box at the bottom of the form asks what type of user the account is for. Options include personal user, freelancer, small business user and other. After clicking the blue “Register” button at the bottom of the form, the user is advised that they must check their email inbox for an activation email to complete registration.
FlowTorch welcomes all user types for free. There are no subscription fees or other expenses required when creating or maintaining an account. FlowTorch is a practical and economical option for users who would like to follow their money and keep track of expenses and income.
